Guys just an update (posting this for anyone else that might come across this issue)- haven't yet got the module BUT did notice that when clicking sale from the module it would default to the shop.aspx (Parent page) and not the category as it should have (when you hover over the link it gives you the cat ID etc). So I deleted the category in NBstore and re-linked it to the menu module and its all working perfectly again.
Though the recommendation here is still upgrade to a later version of the module.
