Just to add to what Jerry said, in the 'stylesheet.css' (found in the same place as the stylesheetoverride.css file) in the back office, search for the css for the buttons..

-a.Button*
-a.Checkout* etc.

Copy them to the stylesheetoverride.css file, then change what you wish.

It makes it a bit easier when changing color, fonts etc.
