I've just tried to look at some non-existing products on the demo store and monitored the cpu usage, but I don;t see any high cpu usage with that system.
It could be some thing that the robot is causing??
As for invalid urls being search, this is something that I think you can stop on the google side, but you can;t stop it for all robots and you are always going to have the possibloity of someone putting a link to a deleted product on their website and hence, the robot goes and has a look. Usually NB_Store deals with this by just displaying a blank product detail.....something I think may need reviewing for version 3.
Usually when DNN throws a high CPU usage, it's becuase an error has been thrown that is not dealt with correctly. Have you got any errors related to this in you DNN event log?
