I know that this is an old thread, but just for the record...
Discounts are indeed applied to Dealers too... buy only if the discount is greater than de dealer "discount"
IE:
Retail Price = 100$
Dealer Price = 80$ (20$ dealer "discount")
If you set discounts to this example product category then you have the next behavior:
Discount Ex: 10% - Role: Dealer - Category: Example
Final price: 80$ (as 10% of 100$ is 10$ < 20$)
if you change to
Discount Ex: 30% - Role: Dealer - Category: Example
Final price: 70$ (as 30% of 100$ is 30$ > 20$)
In conclusion: "dealer" price is the only way to set per/product discounts... and if you want to make further discounts, those have to be superior than the dealer discount...
One more thing.. if you have both cases on the same cart, then you will have different discounts for each product. Wich is actually really cool!
Cheers!
