Thank you for the follow-up. The lockstockoncart setting is NO which I would assume to be the correct setting. Prompted by your reply I have begun to examine the other flags and settings; something I should have done earlier. In the process I have encountered four that I suspect might have some impact on this issue at hand. They are:

Cookiecart.expire No setting so default to 30-days
purgecartmins Set to 10080 (7-days)
purgeordermins Set to 2880 (2-days)
elapsedorderhours.limit No setting so no time limit to pay for order

I will explore these and others further, but your comments will be appreciated.

Also, in your reply you mention “schedules task”. What exactly is this?
